Vincenzo Del Pizzo (Italy, 1971) studied at the School of Architecture in Rome, specialising in interior and product design; he subsequently attended the “Accademia di Moda e Costume” in Rome, enabling him to explore creativity and his passion for fashion and costume design.
After several years working as a fashion designer, he felt the need to embark on a personal creative project that would allow him to express inner thoughts and fascinations without constraints.
His ideas and emotions lead him to express his creativity through the conception of light sculptures that evoke childhood and life memories. Fascinated by all those “forgotten” objects in which these memories are held, he seeks to exploit their potential to induce wonder and delight. His passion in reappraising these discarded items guides him to interact with the objects themselves, raising them from the dust in which they had been abandoned in order to give them a different identity and a new life.
His works present us with the Ready-Made: the object, de-contextualised from its source environment, is revived and re-implemented through extraordinary transposition into a new creative dimension. Thus designed in a novel context, the object adopts new significance and functionality, and drawing from the past it is re-invented as an illuminated sculpture, balanced between installation and applied art.
